Machine learning engineer building recommendation, ranking, NLP, and agentic AI systems — from candidate generation to production monitoring.

5+ years designing, A/B testing, and deploying production recommendation, ranking, and NLP systems — from a self-learning email classifier at ~98% accuracy on 1M+ emails to recent work in LLMs, RAG, and generative AI. Skilled at moving models from prototype through experimentation to production on behavioral, demographic, and text signals at scale. MS in Data Science, George Washington University (2026).

Experience

2 roles
Machine Learning Software Engineer · Techminds Group LLC
MAR 2026 – MAY 2026
Plainsboro, NJ · Internship

Returned to Techminds Group — parent company of SyenApp, where I'd spent five years — for a graduate internship.

  • Built a personalized e-commerce recommendation engine using LLMs (Groq) and retrieval-augmented generation, combining browsing history, brand preferences, and purchase behavior with candidate filtering and re-ranking.
  • Engineered a real-time trending-product discovery pipeline surfacing 50K+ products on the homepage via LLM APIs, contributing to higher homepage click-through.
  • Prototyped multi-agent workflows (Claude) to automate customer-support tasks such as retrieving partner offers and extracting product recommendations, reducing manual effort.
  • Built AI-assisted automation for repetitive ML workflows, streamlining product-classification tasks across key product surfaces.
Senior Machine Learning Engineer · SyenApp (Techminds Group LLC)
AUG 2019 – AUG 2024
Chennai, India
  • Designed and A/B tested personalization and ranking models in Python (scikit-learn) using a hybrid approach — content-based, demographic, and complementary filtering — later extended to a deep learning model, on behavioral signals stored in MongoDB and Elasticsearch; drove a strong lift in user engagement.
  • Built the experimentation, model-drift monitoring, and automated retraining framework that sustained recommendation quality in production.
  • Served as technical lead for a 12-person cross-functional product team (Python, mobile, UI/UX, QA) while owning ML end-to-end — data ingestion, model serving (AWS Lambda, API Gateway), API integration — as the platform grew from launch to 10,000+ users in its first year.
  • Developed a self-learning NLP email-tagging system (SVC, PyTorch) reaching ~98% classification accuracy on 1M+ emails, sharply reducing manual triage.
  • Built real-time analytics dashboards (Elasticsearch, Plotly) that surfaced purchasing trends and informed product decisions; mentored 20+ interns and established model-monitoring standards adopted across engineering.
  • Deployed and maintained ML services on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, IAM), later migrating core infrastructure to GCP to improve scalability and reduce operational overhead.

A DenseNet121 transfer-learning classifier fine-tuned on the HAM10000 dermoscopic dataset. Built a few years ago, then revived: fixed a checkpoint-path bug that had the deployed app crashing on load, rebuilt the lost front end from old screenshots, and — while tracing the training notebook — found and corrected a real label bug where melanoma images had been mapped to the wrong class name.

An SVC + TF-IDF classifier for sentiment in Roman Urdu (Urdu written in Latin script), trained on ~20K labeled comments. The trained model files were never committed to the repo — retrained them from the included dataset, fixed a pandas incompatibility and a broken requirements.txt, and rebuilt the front end.
